The 10 Minute Meal... in a Cup.

Today's Concoction was born out of an "I wonder..." thought of mine. Futuristic movies have always planted seeds of hope of one day ingesting a single pill and then tasting an entire meal while gaining all of the nutrients and such therein. We are nowhere near a product like that in this day and age, but the closest I could come to fitting an entire meal in a pill was fitting an entire meal in a cup.
---------------
First I procured what I intended on eating for a normal meal. A bowl of some (in my case, leftover) hamburger helper-esque dinner, a bowl of instant garlic mashed potatoes, and a large glass of Country Fresh Lemonade.

Upon adding these 3 ingredients together in the blender I began to question if this was really a good idea or not. It did not appear very appetizing and I hadn't even turned the blender on yet.

Following a short blending session, my uneasiness remained... it still didn't look very good.

I carefully poured my creation from the blender back into my glass and took a sip.

It didn't make me vomit, but I wouldn't exactly call it appetizing. As one of my friends said in a taste test for the Taste the Rainbow Float, "This was not greater than the sum of its parts". It was very liquidy, due to the large amount of lemonade and the near liquid mashed potatoes comprising most of the concoction. I only made it through about half of the glass before I just didn't want anymore and went and made myself a PB&J instead. :)

In my culinary adventures on this blog thus far I haven't really had a failure yet. I think after tonight that statement no longer is true. Never fear, my thirst for knowledge (and a little fun) has not been quenched and I will continue to push the envelope of what is done in the kitchen. For better or for worse, it will continue...

PB&J 2.0

Today's creation is a loose variation on what is probably the most popular sandwich in the US, Peanut Butter and Jelly.
------------
Pop Tart's were on sale at the local grocery store this week, so I decided to get creative with a package of the strawberry flavored pastries.

The fruit flavored insides of a Pop Tart are kind of like jelly aren't they? Well that's what I thought, so I threw some peanut butter in between them and set out to enjoy my PB&J 2.0.

Surprisingly, it was quite tasty. I thought that the sweetness of the frosting might get in the way of the taste but I think the saltiness of the peanut butter covered all of that up. By the end of it I actually wished that they made Pop Tarts a little bigger so that I would have more to enjoy! I dont think I will ever use Pop Tarts as a substitute for bread in the classic sandwich but this was a fun and interesting (and successful) experiment.

Operation Fudgy Brownie Fudge

Spring Break was relaxing for me, but it was not without its culinary adventures. One of my best friends Gabe and I spent quite a bit of time together. Gabe and I have been on many food adventures before, and this particular break was no exception.

At one point we decided to make brownies. Upon acquiring a box of Ultimate Fudge brownies, we were wondering what truly ultimate fudge brownies would be like. In the end we decided that we wanted to try and put brownies inside actual fudge. With a dream and a loose plan in mind, we put Operation Fudgy Brownie Fudge into motion.
-----------
The first things you need to gather when trying to put brownies inside fudge are some brownies and some fudge.
A portion of the fudge was placed in a large casserole dish and the brownies were placed on top.

The remaining fudge was poured on top to encase the brownies, the dish was a perfect size! It was placed in the fridge overnight.

It actually worked! What resulted was a fairly presentable looking dessert, brownies perfectly encased in fudge!
Reviews were good overall. The dessert was very chocolaty, for some almost too much so. The only downside to this entire operation was that this giant dish of brownie fudge had to be consumed for the rest of the week. I was a little sick of it by the end of it but I wouldn't hesitate to make it again. I'm sure it would make a great party food.
