The Split Decision Pizza

Today's Concoction is essentially two meals in one. Pizza and Mac and Cheese, two of the most standard college meals, have been combined to create a dish Ive dubbed The Split Decision Pizza.
--------------
This is another dish that was incredibly easy to make. frozen pizzas in the oven, pot of mac and cheese on the stove top. Cooking and construction took about 20 min total.
Step 1:
Make Pizzas and Mac and Cheese

Step 2:
Put Mac and Cheese on 1st pizza.

Step 3:
Put 2nd pizza on top, serve and enjoy.

Reviews were fantastic. Raves reviews included "Excellent!", "Delicious and Creative", and even "This is the best F'in thing ever!" One taster commented "This is easily the best food Ive had in 8 hours, AND it goes well with whiskey!"

The only negative review was a minor one. "I didn't like it because I couldn't taste the mac and cheese over the pizza. It was a little bland."

Personally, I was among those that loved it. I love pizza, and I love mac and cheese. I eat both quite frequently as well. A combination was destined to be great in my opinion. As great as it was, a few changes could make it even better. The addition of some Parmesan cheese or other flavoring to the mac and cheese or using a different flavored pizza other than cheese could push the flavor combination over the edge and take this dish from the "tasty" realm into the "super tasty" category.

The "Taste the Rainbow" Float

Today's Concoction is an interesting take on the favorite summer treat, The Root Beer Float. I call it the "Taste the Rainbow" Float.
-------------
A simple combination of strawberry ice cream, orange soda and Skittles candy will leave you with this tasty treat.

This tasty treat will leave you with an interesting film on your glass however (as seen below), an occurrence that was a little unsettling to a couple tasters.

Overall the combination of colors was appealing to everyone. The combination of flavors was also very enjoyable, though one taster was quite put off by the overall sweetness of the drink.

Positive comments ranged from the reminiscent "...it reminds me of a summer day" and the child-like "I really liked the colors" to the negative comments including the straightforward "I hate frozen Skittles" to the philosophical "It was not greater than the sum of it's parts."

As for myself, I kind of enjoyed it. The flavor combination was a little on the sweet side, but that is to be expected from the Orange Soda. I didn't really like how the Skittles froze as they sat on the ice cream but I still ate them. I don't think I would ever chose this over a classic root beer float if presented with a choice between the two though. If I were to make these again I think I would take out the Skittles and substitute them with another fruit, possibly bananas.

The College Student's Hors D'oeuvre

The first "recipe" I decided to tackle was a simple combination of popular college foods: Pizza Rolls, Bacon, and Pretzel Sticks.
------------
The hardest part of the whole process was cooking the bacon.

I chose to use cheese Pizza Rolls as to not influence the taste of the whole dish with other flavors such as sausage or pepperoni. The skewer holding each Hors D'oeurve together was a simple Pretzel Stick.

What I ended up with was a nice plate of rather respectable looking appetizers, given what ingredients I had been working with.

Reviews were mixed ranging from the somewhat negative "They were too greasy", to the rave "Oh my God, these are so F'in good!"

There were no surprises to one taste-tester as he replied "If I had been blindfolded, I would have said it tasted exactly like that [a pizza roll wrapped in bacon with a pretzel]"

Overall a sucess as others commented "It was... interesting, but I liked it", "They were a little chewy and greasy, but the pretzel crunch was nice" and "They were really tasty, the combination of the pizza roll sauce and bacon was nice."

My thoughts? I enjoyed them. Pizza Rolls have been a favorite quick snack since I was a little kid and this new twist on them was a fun and welcome one. I would probably try to cut out more of the bacon grease as it did tend to be a little overwhelming. An addition I might make would be to add a little melted cheese or a cheese cube to the top of each Hors D'oeuvre to combat some of the saltiness of the pretzel and bacon.

Welcome and... enjoy?

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Here I intend to disclose and uncover a strange and unusual corner of the internet culinary community. Photo Blogs such as www.thisiswhyyourefat.com showcase strange, interesting and often disgusting concoctions that submitters post to the site.

Here I plan to take strange ideas from that blog as well as original ideas from myself and friends (and reader submissions here) and the "recipes" people have come up with online and put them to the test by actually attempting to recreate them and then consume them.

Youre sure to find something interesting here with each post, even if its something you would never consider eating in a million years. I'm here to try it so you don't have to. I will be documenting the construction process (as I am able) as well as taste reviews from friends willing enough to go along with my crazy cooking ideas.

So if you're reading this, be sure to come back sometime. You may just find something that ends up being the next smash-hit snack at your office party or organization's get-together.
